Experiences Offered

What can you expect from a session?

Each person’s experience during a session with Cindy will be unique. After discussing what her client is intending to feel after the session, Cindy will decide how best to approach that day’s treatment. She uses CranioSacral Therapy as the basis for all of her massage sessions. If the person’s body leads her towards using other types of bodywork, such as Deep Tissue or Swedish massage techniques, then she will utlitze those skills during the session.

Most clients find they feel more rooted or grounded in their bodies after a session with Cindy. They sometimes experience what she calls “facilitated napping” during the treatment - where they feel relaxed enough to be sleeping and are still aware of the work that is taking place. Many clients continue to feel the healing effects of the treatment several days after a session.

What is CranioSacral Therapy?

The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum or tailbone area. Since this vital system influences the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord, an imbalance or restriction in it could potentially cause any number of sensory, motor, or neurological disabilities. These problems could include migraines, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities and other health challenges.

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate these negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. Using a light touch, the practitioner monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. The therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.

What conditions can CranioSacral Therapy treat?

CranioSacral Therapy works directly with the central nervous system, which makes it an effective treatment for a wide variety of conditions.

What about CranioSacral Therapy for Pregnancy, Birth and Children?

Cindy specializes in treating women and their families during all stages of pregnancy, labor and post-partum care. She also treats newborns, infants and children. She may suggest that a parent or parents and child be treated together for a more effective outcome, especially for newborns. Many times the child is presenting an identical pattern found in their primary caretaker: “Mom is baby’s blueprint.”
